Music in the brain

Perhaps one of the most common things people do is listen to music, everyone has their preferences to choose a musical genre and the time to listen to one or another song, to accompany rainy afternoon, dinner with someone special or disconnect from reality . The music manages to complement our days and become our soundtracks like in the movies.

Have you thought about why you prefer some songs over others? Why sometimes the music you produce feelings? What happens in your brain when sound waves enter you for your ears?

Music is used to regulate mood and arousal in everyday life and to promote physical and psychological health and well-being in clinical settings. However, scientific inquiry into the neurochemical effects of music is still in its infancy.

The music is considered among the elements that cause more pleasure in life, this occurs by the release of dopamine, a neurohormone released by the hypothalamus and is related to pleasure, similar to what occurred with food, sex and drugs effect. This neurohormone produced stimuli dependent limbic system of the brain that manage physiological responses to emotional stimuli, particularly the nucleus accumbens. The brain related to emotions music of our memories, in less than a second.

It is amazing how our brain works all the time, and reacts with everything we do, music is just one example of thousands.
